Emotions still turn us into its puppets

Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche: Emotions still turn us into its puppets

Rinpoche's French is so essential that it needs to be read repeatedly????

If you exercise your body, it will become healthier, stronger, and more under your control; the same applies to the mind. Ironically, the world is full of fitness centers, but what we really need is the fitness of the mind.

Training the mind is necessary because the mind is the basis of the "self". An untrained mind will cause you to fall into all kinds of disorders.

Because such a mind is easily angered, easily fluctuating, easily affected by external circumstances, easily manipulated, easily satisfied by superficial praise, easily hurt by meaningless criticism or meaningless bad words; it is also often too rigid and stubborn to accept fresh ideas.

The training of the mind is ultimately to make us become Buddhas; but relatively speaking, it also has a great impact on daily life. One of the purposes of training our own mind is to allow us to use it freely.

For example, if your mind is well trained, you can adjust your mind in a state of complete anger and have great love for the object of your anger. This is called transcendental power.

Another purpose of training the mind is to be able to use a larger part of it. At present, you use only a small part of your mind, and even this small part is weakened by various dullness and defilements. If you train your mind, you can make the functions of the mind all yours and control them freely. You can be creative, patient, artistic, or whatever you want.

Then, even if your body ages and your head becomes bald and your skin wrinkled, your mind will continue to grow and become more energetic.

If you train the body, it will only benefit this life; if you train the mind, you can carry it to the next life. When people die, it is natural to experience some kind of shock between this life and the next life, which makes people a little confused, just as a blow to the head can cause temporary memory loss.

However, the training of the mind is the intangible training of the intangible; therefore, the destruction of the form, such as cremation, burial, etc., cannot destroy it.

To quiet the mind or to tame the mind is another way to describe the training of the mind. When we are angry, excited, or in any strong emotion, we lose control and are completely engulfed.

Often, we don’t know that we are being taken over by emotions; even if we know, even before the emotion erupts, we are still powerless to stop it from overflowing.

Common sense tells us that too much anger is not good for health and jealousy only adds to the problem, but because our minds are untrained, these emotions still turn us into their puppets.
